What is Educational Technology?
Educational Technology Framework
Technology in the 21st Century classroom. What does it look like? How are our students learning? What will the future hold?
To be an effective Educational Technology Leader one must embrace the three C's of Coaching: Communication. Collaboration. Consistency.
Communication. Perhaps one of the most important C's. Communication is important to establish trust, build positive relationships with peers and to be able to articulate your school's technological needs and projected future.
Communication. Perhaps one of the most important C's. Communication is important to establish trust, build positive relationships with peers and to be able to articulate your school's technological needs and projected future.
Collaboration. This goes without saying. As a technology coach you are continuously collaborating ideas and lessons with every teacher in your building. You work WITH the teacher to help build a solid curriculum that seamlessly infuses technology that is aligned with the Common Core Standards. You insist that the foundation of any good tech leader is the ability to work well with others.
Consistency. Being consistent is perhaps one of the best approaches to being an effective technology coach/leader. Be consistent with your training; be consistent with following up with the teacher you are coaching; be a consistent voice in technology avocation; and most of all- be consistent with your communication and collaboration!
Educational Technology Coaching Format:
* Collaborate: start building a new lesson built on the foundation of technology and their comfort level of skills.
* Consistency: Check for teacher understanding, make certain that you are there for the teacher during the week of the lesson, provide consistent feedback for growth
- Allow teachers to select their favorite lesson that they LOVE to brag and boast about. This ensures they are comfortable with the subject matter that is being taught. Communicate and advise teachers to sign up with you by a certain date so you can Collaborate and create a new lesson plan based off of their favorite lesson that seamlessly infuses educational technology.
- Schedule a brief 10 minute meeting (nothing formal) the week or two before your slotted time to discuss the lesson.

- Collaborate and co-create the new lesson plan with the ideas that were discussed.
- If need be, schedule to meet one more time to go over the technology aspect of the lesson.
- Push into the class for the week that you signed up and Coach the teacher during the lesson and be available if any technical issues arise.
- Have one last 10-minute informal wrap-up meeting about questions or concerns.
